I am so (I’m sorry) sorry that this is late. I even put an apology in my apology so I could apologize while I apologize. Anyway, let’s get this show on the road and talk about all of the Fluttershys.
This week’s episode featured Fluttershy. In case you’ve forgotten (since she has been in so few episodes this season), she is the yellow pegasus who is a kind and gentle animal lover. However, some of her animals and some of the ponies in town take advantage of her kindness, and she caves. That makes her a push-over or a door-mat. Enter Iron Will the Minotaur, who teaches assertiveness through loud noises and songs that sound like “Eye of the Tiger”. Fluttershy takes his lessons close to heart as she becomes a completely different pony who is mean and nasty. This upsets Pinkie Pie and Rarity, who both start crying and run away, making Fluttershy realize what an awful pony she has become. So like the Beast in Beauty and the Beast, she locks herself away in her house so that she’ll never make another pony cry. This makes Rarity and Pinkie sad, but as they are trying to persuade Fluttershy to leave her house, Iron Will comes to collect his fee. Rarity and Pinkie try and get him to leave, but Iron Will wins out. Forcing Fluttershy to come out of her house, she asserts herself nicely and reasonably and refuses to pay. Iron Will, slightly confused, leaves. End Scene.
What do we learn from this episode, fellow bronies? Well, it confirms Fluttershy’s hidden badass-ness (Or is it badass-ery? Let me know in the comments). I also learned that we all need a little Iron Will. No pony wants to be a push over, but it really stinks when you realize that you are one. Also, I’m adopting “flying feather” into my regular vocabulary.
Quote of the episode:
I can’t believe that the two most frivolous ponies in Ponyville are trying to tell new Fluttershy how to live her life, when they are throwing their own lives away on pointless pursuits that nopony else gives a flying feather about!
