Trailer Tuesdays: Justice League: War

Oh, this makes me happy.

Justice League: War is scheduled for a direct-to-video release on February 4th, and I am eagerly counting down the days until I can own it for myself.

Justice League: War is an adaptation of Jim Lee’s and Geoff’s Justice League: Origin, a comic that I haven’t read and know next to nothing about. However, depending on how well I like the movie after watching it, it will probably be a comic that I’ll put on my reading list.

On the whole, I think DC does very well with its animated features. Young Justice was a wonderful show, in spite of certain issues with its executives, and Batman: Under the Red Hood is one of my favorite animated films ever, as is Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. I always have high expectations whenever DC releases an animated feature, because I know how well the company can do, which is why it’ll be a huge disappointment if Justice League: War ends up mediocre or worse. And even though I generally enjoy DC’s animated features, they have released some in the past that I have really disliked.

For instance, I greatly detested Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, so much so that I actually couldn’t finish watching it the first time around. I know that that movie did fairly well and that a lot of people liked it. I am not one of them. For whatever reason, I could not stand that movie. Normally, when I think of DC and terrible animated features, Public Enemies is one of the first things to come to mind.

For starters, the animation looks a lot better, and Wonder Woman seems adequately proportioned compared to some of the women in Public Enemies. Public Enemies, by all rights, should have been an awesome movie, and for whatever reason, it just didn’t work for me. I can only hope that Justice League: War won’t be a disappointment. I’m greatly looking forward to this movie, especially since, as a Marvel girl, I don’t often read about the Justice League, and I know next to nothing about why they banded together into a team in the first place.

Overall, the movie just looks like it’ll be a lot of fun to watch. Listening to Superman’s and Batman’s interactions always brighten my day, so I’m really looking forward to seeing them meet each other for the first time and watching that pan out. Additionally, I don’t know anywhere near as much about Wonder Woman as I should, and knowing that she’ll be in the film kicking some ass as well makes me even more excited for War.

However, if I have to complain about something, it would be this: the sound. I first noticed this when I played Arkham Asylum. DC’s video games and animated features occasionally have problems with loud music and low voices. When I originally watched this trailer, I had trouble hearing half of what the characters said. And turning up the volume didn’t help, because that just makes the music louder as well. While in this movie, it doesn’t seem that bad, it is something that still bothers me. I don’t mind loud music, but I do mind when I can’t adequately hear voices over that music. Other than that, it looks amazing and I can’t wait to watch it.

And hey, for anyone else super excited for this film, it comes out in less than a week.

About MadameAce

I draw, I write, I paint, and I read. I used to be really into anime and manga until college, where I fell out of a lot of my fandoms to pursue my studies. College was also the time I discovered my asexuality, and I have been fascinated by different sexualities ever since. I grew up in various parts of the world, and I've met my fair share of experiences and cultures along the way. Sure, I'm a bit socially awkward and not the easiest person to get along with, but I do hold great passion for my interests, and I can only hope that the things I have to talk about interest you as well.
