Web Crush Wednesdays: Tom and Lorenzo

Once again, I am aware that I’m straying into slightly off-topic territory, but I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t love these guys and think that you would. Not to mention everyone wears clothes, so fashion relates to everyone and everything.

Anyway, this week’s Web Crush is Tom and Lorenzo! They are a gay couple (Tom and Lorenzo shockingly enough) who blog about fashion and various other things, which include the TV series Falling Skies (which I reviewed here). I got introduced to them through a friend and Project Runway watcher. This is where I confess my love for the crazy-ass show. It’s my guilty pleasure; let’s have y’all accept that and move on.

These guys always find a way to share my exact feels using the correct words. They are very sassy and do not hesitate to speak their mind in a very hilarious way. For a while I’ve been wanting to do a post on these guys, but I didn’t think they were the most relevant and put it off. Then I read this (full post with a lot of pictures here) about an outfit at the Total Recall premiere:

You got a big-ass science fiction film coming out? You don’t wear something demure and colorless; you wear something big and science-fictiony. You break out your muthafuckin Lizard Queen dress, bitches, and you conquer that red carpet like it’s loaded with potential slaves for your Space Lizard Empire. This is the kind of dress that immediately causes its wearer to stand up a little straighter and resist the overwhelming urge to shout things like “SEIZE THEM!!!!!”

I proceeded to laugh and write this post. I mean, go look at the pictures below and tell me Tom and Lorenzo weren’t spot on.

So there you have it folks. Granted, not the geekiest thing on this blog, but we all love a good lizard queen and some gay guys blogging about her.

Falling Skies Review

Falling Skys is a summer series on TNT now in its second season about an alien invasion of Earth and a group of people led by an American History professor in Massachusetts trying to survive and fight back against the aliens. Oh, and Steven Spielberg is producing it.

Okay, I’m going to give you the punchline at the beginning. This. Series. Sucks.

Now, the really good question you are probably thinking at this moment is “Why does it suck?” See that beginning description? That’s pretty much all that happened. All they do is walk around, fire guns occasionally, and have randomly placed philosophical conversations. It’s boring as nut. And I like philosophical conversations more than the average Joe. But the series obviously thinks it’s being so dramatic. I just wanna yell at my TV, ‘”There is more drama on Project Runway!” Because there is more drama on any other TV program.

Part of the reason the drama aspect is so bad is because so many of the characters are either poorly written, poorly acted, or both. Noah Wyle (who plays the Professor) is the only good actor with a well written character. His kids have poorly written characters, and the other adults can’t act.

The special effects are so-so. Obviously you know that the aliens are fake computer-generated things, so it doesn’t have much of a zing. Not to mention I don’t think the aliens themselves are that scary. They look like your traditional green headed guy with a little ant and a little squid. They’ve got cool technology though. But it’s nothing I haven’t seen before in—I don’t know—Star Trek, Star Wars, Firefly, or any other scifi thing that involves outer space.

I guess since there is absolutely nothing else on TV during the summer TNT feels the need to subject us to this boring torture. It’s a one hour show and they could have done it in thirty minutes. So if you have free time and are thinking about watching this series, I recommend you do something more fun and productive, like watching grass grow.
