Web Crush Wednesdays: okaynate

You know the deal, everything good on the internet comes either from or in association with Grace Helbig, so today I have another of her My Damn Channel co-workers for your Web Crush: okaynate.

Good ol’ Nate. He’s not Nate the Great, or Domi-Nate, he’s just okaynate. Not even special enough for capital letters and that’s just fine. Now what makes him so okay? I’m glad you asked. Well he started out as part of the “My Damn Channel Live” production team as comment DJ/Punching Bag.

He keeps the show running but gets no respect: that’s okay.

Also, he can fill out a dance number and, despite being barely competent, do absolutely nothing to pull focus from the other dancers:

Is he a great dancer? No, he’s just okay.

Now that he has his own vlog we get to hear his okay stories about his okay life. Even his fantasy life in which he is king features him making the very mediocre laws of movie theaters playing the Lord of the Rings trilogy (extended edition) back to back, but not as a main attraction, merely as background noise for communal naps:

He even got to meet Grumpy Cat. His mediocrity did not cheer her in the least:

He was upstaged on his own show by a tired cat and that’s okay.

All kidding aside though, Nate is more than just okay; he’s a really charmingly simple and earnest person. His videos are always entertaining and he really connects with his viewers by responding to comments and using their input to guide video ideas. I think he really has a handle on the interactive aspect of YouTube and I’m eager to see him continue as a tuber.

Web Crush Wednesdays: Beth Hoyt

Beth In Show, Beth In Show,

It’s not the “Be Thin Show”!

Beth In Show, Beth In Show,

Let’s go!

That’s Beth’s theme song… perhaps it would be best if you actually heard it:

Beth Hoyt is a YouTube personality (I spend a lot of time on YouTube, as is apparent from my web crushes). I first came across her as the host of My Damn Channel Live, which of course I was introduced to by the queen of the internet, Grace Helbig.

After all, all good things on the internet come either from or in association with Grace Helbig.

But Beth is no second fiddle to Grace! She hosted MDC Live four out of five weekdays and did a great job carrying the show; she was personable and had good interactions with the guest stars; she kept the ball rolling and didn’t let it get stagnant which can be tough to do on a live show; and her skits were always great.

I was very happy to spend my weekdays with Beth, but it wasn’t until MDC Live went on hiatus that I checked out her individual YouTube page. Her videos range from her life experiences, interacting with users’ comments, and little skits. I have to say, the skits are probably my favorite and Beth is a really talented character actress.

Beth is also branching out and has become the East Coast guinea pig host of Dirty Little Beauty Secrets on The Stylish Vids.

I find Beth so very entertaining and hopefully MDC Live will return for a second season soon because she was great on it. Until then, check out her YouTube page and Twitter to keep up with her and her comedy. She’s definitely worth a subscription.

Web Crush Wednesdays: Grace Helbig

Who’s my Web Crush this week? It’s Grace Helbig! (WARNING! THIS IS A VERY VIDEO-HEAVY POST) If you don’t know Grace, she’s an internet celebrity who comes to YouTube via mydamnchannel.com. She has a daily vlog known as Daily Grace (how clever!) which was how I discovered her.

I don’t believe this was the first video of hers I saw, but it’s the one that made me want to watch more!

Grace is a comedian and she is definitely the kind who believes that anything is fair game for comedy. If you’re really sensitive about manners/etiquette/foul language or any political, spiritual, or religious ideology Grace will not be the person for you. I find her daily vlog to be endlessly hilarious with her irreverent humor and creative little skits. Every day has a theme except Monday which is kept open for any kind of video. Tuesdays are “Commenting on Comments.”

I want to be hazed so badly!! I love the on-the-spot nicknaming. Aside from that I enjoy seeing the kind of things people say on the internet which is always surprising and funny, and I love that she interacts with her fans. She could ignore comments, or get overly defensive at rude ones, but instead she uses her sense of humor to engage with her “viewsers”.

Wednesdays are Reviews!

I love this show and her review is so accurate.

Thursdays are Tutorials!

I love when she teaches us something like this, though I must say I prefer her cooking tutorials because first off, I love the food network! Cooking shows are super entertaining to me, plus I love her invented recipes, “facts”, and how her cooking style of “I have this idea and I’m not sure how to make it happen but damn it, I’mma try!”

And Fridays are seeeeexxxxxxxyyyy

But daily vlogging just isn’t enough for Grace or her fans! She’s also part of the web series “My Music Show” which airs every Sunday and has special weekly features:

It’s a pretty funny show. Sometimes I think the characters are too cliché (I know that’s the idea behind it, but even so) but it’s still funny. Also, Felicia Day has guest starred on an episode, though I won’t tell you which one. You’ll just have to find out!

She hosts MyDamnChannelLIVE on Thursdays:

And her guest star in this episode is Michelle Vargas, with whom she runs the channel Grace ‘n’ Michelle:

And she does spots for “Attack of the Show” on G4

Grace is a busy, busy lady and I love her. It’s a damn good thing I didn’t come across her before I graduated or I never would have gotten any work done! If you have come to love her then you’re in luck because she’s EVERYWHERE on the net. YouTubefacebook, tumblr, and twitter.

In closing, because there just aren’t enough videos in this post, here’s one of my absolute favorites:
